Oh, so the commissary has its own brand now?

Commissary brands. Store brands.  Cheap brands.  Cheap on your wallet, not on quality.  Yes! Commissary brands are rolling out.  No. Commissary brands are not taking over.  The commissary’s private label will eventually reach 3,000 to 4,000 items in total.  That is a far cry from the tens of thousands of items available in the commissary system.  We aren’t eliminating all of your favorite national brands….just providing you a cheaper alternative.

But why?

The 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) provides DeCA the opportunity to make some specific changes to its operations that will sustain patron savings.  DeCA introduced commissary brands because many of our authorized customers have indicated they shop off base to take advantage of the savings offered by generic brands at retail grocers…and we don’t want you shopping at our competitors.  Obviously.  Just like in a quality marriage we at least try to listen….sometimes.

So what?  I want MY brand!
